All Stars Adventures

view from fort scratchley

The All Stars classes have had an adventurous time in the last few weeks. There have been community access trips, student involvement in Star Struck, and excursions to Fort Scratchley and Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters.

Fort Scratchley

The Warners Bay High All Stars stepped back in time to explore the former coastal defense installation of Fort Scratchley and bravely toured deep into the tunnels beneath the site.

They were able to get up close with the historic cannons and disappearing gun to learn all about the site and its legacy as the only fort in Australia to return enemy fire.

During lunch they enjoyed the sunshine and picnicked with beautiful views across the city of Newcastle and Nobbys beach.

Although their ears were ringing following the firing of the cannon to mark 1pm, the AllStars did their school proud as respectful students and visitors.

Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters

Students from the Support Unit visited Irukandji Shark & Ray Encounters at Anna Bay.

They were able to feed the rays and got to meet several different types of sharks as well as learning a wealth of information about marine life and conservation.
