2022 Highlights
HSC Results
Our 2022 TAS HSC results were a positive reflection of the consistent hard work and dedication of both our students and their teachers:
- Design and Technology: 2 Band 6's, 4 Band 5's, 4 Band 4's
- Engineering Studies: 1 Band 6, 2 Band 4's
- Food Technolog: 2 Band 6's, 3 Band 5's, 2 Band 4's
- Industrial Technology: 1 Band 6, 3 Band 5's, 7 Band 4's
- Textiles and Design: 2 Band 6's, 5 Band 5's
InTech
One student from Industrial Technology - Metals and Engineering, and two students from Industrial Technology- Timber Products and Furniture were nominated for possible inclusion in InTech, the annual exhibition of outstanding and exemplar Major Projects developed by HSC Industrial Technology students around the state.
This exhibition covers all Industrial Technology focus areas – Timber Products and Furniture, Automotive, Electronics, Graphics, Metal and Engineering, and Multimedia. It includes students’ folios that document the design, management, communication and production of their projects.
The panel met and considered all nominations. They were very impressed by the high standard of the works presented by our three students.
Shape at the Powerhouse
We congratulated one of our students on their selection for "Shape at the Powerhouse" Ultimo, Sydney which will display their construction of a metalworking bench and an engineer's vice. The exhibition and the official opening will be at the Powerhouse Museum, with a special presentation ceremony in early 2023 celebrating all HSC Showcases.
Year 12 Design and Technology Major Design Projects 2022
Year 12 Design and Technology students were congratulated on completing their HSC Major Design Projects. A variety of projects were completed including graphic novels, cookbooks, interior design magazines, architectural designs with models, a 3D printed keyboard, music band merchandise and stop motion animation.
Tech Girls
Congratulations to our Warners Bay High School Team "Blue Screen" on their entry CLICK for Care in the 2022 Tech Girls Competition and for being NSW Secondary Finalists.
Team "Blue Screen" worked very hard this year solving a community problem using STEM.
They designed a goal-based app that helps those suffering mental illness and executive dysfunction.
They are all now proud ambassadors and alumni of the Tech Girls Movement Foundation.
Electric Vehicle Challenge
Nine Stage 5 Industrial Technology - Engineering students participated in the Electric Vehicle Challenge at Broadmeadow. These students successfully built and raced solar cars around a course.
The team won 1st Prize in the “Endurance Heat” after three heats.
Moulin Rouge the Musical
Years 9 and 10 Textiles Technology students attended the Sydney Capitol Theatre to see Moulin Rouge the Musical. The students enjoyed this valuable learning experience, studying the creative works of costumier, Catherine Zuber. The students used the experience to compare the costumes from the musical with the costumes from the film created by Catherine Martin.
Build ME a Future
A group of 35 Years 7 and 8 students travelled to the University of Newcastle to participate in the Build ME a Future Day.
This immersion day enabled students to develop their interest and engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities. It allowed students to bridge the gap between school and university, showcasing how STEM careers can make a positive impact on the world. The day consisted of a selection of competitive, hands-on STEM challenges, as well as an opportunity to explore the University of Newcastle.
