...We are all visitors to this time, this place. We are just passing through. Our purpose here is to observe, to learn, to grow, to love.... and then to return home... Aboriginal proverb
Awabakal word meaning “north of the lake”. WBHS are a close partner with Kumaridha Local AECG and are an active and willing participant in local AECG meetings and seek AECG representation on selection panels and at cultural events. The AECG’s focus is on communities having input into Aboriginal Education and is made up of volunteer members. They strongly invite Parents & Community members to attend and have their say in Aboriginal Education.
Aboriginal Education Team:
WBHS has an active Junior AECG that meet to discuss and plan events such as the Sorry Day Address and NADIOC Celebrations. In addition, there are cultural opportunities such as weaving workshops and more recently a possum skin cloak workshop. The Junior AECG provides a strong voice for our ATSI students who are also supported through individual programs identified in their PLP meetings. Our newly appointed Aboriginal Education Worker also provides cultural support to our ATSI students.
