The Library is an essential resource that supports teaching and learning at WBHS. Our teacher-librarian provides curriculum resources for teachers to access as well as resources for students to access for individual learning and recreational reading. With a wealth of knowledge on best practice in research, our teacher-librarian supports a range of learning tasks across faculties.
Our top highlights were:
Holiday Reading Program
Literacy development was supported by encouraging reading via the inaugural Holiday Reading program (which engaged students in reading over the summer), Library Lovers Day, Reading Hour (which is an Australia-wide program) and the Principal’s Reading Challenge.
QLE and VLE
Learning events such as the QLE and VLE were hosted by the Library providing Year 8 and 10 students the opportunity to reflect on their learning.
Teaching Resources
The Library continues to be a teaching resource which offers flexible space to host learning events, and future-focused facilities such as virtual reality, green screen and 3D-printing.
Indigenous Language
Support of Indigenous Language through the Awabakal word of the day throughout the Year of Indigenous Literacy, valuing our indigenous heritage.
Year 7 for a Day
Engagement with our feeder schools in the Year 7 for a Day program with Where’s Wally in the Library. This program improved familiarity of partner primary students with library facilities, assisting in their transition to high school.
