          .                         .

The CAPA faculty would like to congratulate Mr Ashley Forbes and MrChris English on their appointments as permanent Music teachers to Warners Bay High. We are very privileged to have two such wonderful and enthusiastic members of staff who will complement the faculty and continue

the support and encouragement of our students in the areas of Music and performance. Their youthful exuberance and wonderful practical experience, combined with the classical knowledge and expertise of our other permanent Music teacher, Mrs Natalie Fairhall, ensure that our Music students will receive the very best education in this area.

I would also like to welcome Mr Steven Burton to the Visual Arts area of our faculty. Mr Burton is a permanent replacement for Mr Gary Sims who retired in 2010.

Earlier this year I had the privilege to visit the NSW Art Gallery for the opening of ARTEXPRESS 2011. On behalf of the faculty I was presented with the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation awardfor contributions to ARTEXPRESS and Art education. We received a plaque, now hanging proudly in our school foyer and a cheque for $1,000.00 which we have used to purchase several beautiful Art books. The Visual Arts teachers at Warners Bay High continually provide our students with engaging and creative learning experiences and this award reflects the outcomes of this environment. The award is an acknowledgment of the efforts of all members of the faculty, not just those who teach in the senior school. It is our philosophy that good teaching practice and experimental experiences for Years 7 to 10 students result in wonderful creative artists in Year 12.

This year we had five of our 2010 HSC students in ARTEXPRESS. They were Hayden Browne, Julie Thea, Kelsie Patterson, Demi Batchelor and Lauren Chock. Their artworks were on display at various galleries across NSW and they have enjoyed wonderful acknowledgment of their creativity and HSC success in these exhibitions.
