Highlights from 2021 were:
All Stars Cafe
Special Education staff and students created and implemented Warners Bay High School's first ever café. Students are responsible for taking menu orders, following recipes, preparing and cooking a variety of food for school staff to enjoy each week. The students learnt many skills throughout this process such as customer service, working as a team and responsible food handling. Due to a high level of success and enjoyment, the café will continue into 2022.
Community Partnerships
A student in Year 12 completed ongoing work experience at Lake Macquarie City Council each week. His task was to utilise the Council's scanning programs and management system to archive paper-based records which he completed successfully each week.
YES Program
A number of students in Year 10 participated in the YES program. This enabled students to engage in a range of short TAFE tasters which they were passionate about.
Year 12 Graduation
A student in Year 12 successfully completed his HSC. He is the first student to graduate from Warners Bay High School Support Unit. We wish him well in his future endeavours.
Thank you Bunnings!
Bunnings Glendale donated paint supplies to help improve our outdoor learning space. The Stage 6 Visual Arts students used their design skills to refurbish a picnic table using an urban art theme. Our outdoor area is now more aesthetically pleasing and engaging for students. This experience gave students important soft skills for gaining employment. They also considered the environmental impact of our school by upcycling an old table, as opposed to disposing the old furniture and purchasing new ones.
