As part of the History Elective Course, Year 10 History students will be participating in the Crime & Justice Case Study Program at the Justice & Police Museum in Sydney. Students will explore, examine and evaluate various primary and secondary sources, including artefacts and documents, and learn how a wide range of sources provides the evidence required to pursue a historical inquiry. Students should be at Cardiff Station by 6.45am (train leaves 6.58am), the return train should arrive back at Cardiff around 4.30pm. NOTE: Students must have an opal card for public transport or debit card to purchase travel fare with a minimum balance of $15. Students should wear full school uniform including appropriate shoes for walking. There will be opportunities for students to purchase their lunch; however, they may still require snacks and a water bottle.

Selected students from Years 7 and 8 will be competing in Round 1 of the Premier's Debating Challenge. The Premier's Debating Challenge is open to all NSW government schools with the aim of developing the reasoning and public speaking skills of students from Years 5 to 12. Students should wear full school uniform including tie and blazer. Students may be able to borrow a blazer for this event through the school office.

Star Struck 2023 Choir Group - Students will participate in the Mass Choir for the Regional Performing Arts Spectacular Star Struck. ** Tickets for Star Struck Ignite 2023 are on sale on Monday 1st May through Ticketek** REHEARSAL DATES AT NEWCASTLE EXHIBITION CENTRE. Friday 5th May Mass Choir rehearsal Newcastle Exhibition Centre, 8.40am-2.00pm. (Meet Mrs Husband out the front of the hall. Collect students from the front of the hall). Friday 9th June Mass Choir rehearsal Newcastle Exhibition Centre, 8.40am-2.00pm. (Meet Mr Mclennan out the front of the hall collect students from the front of the Exhibition Centre). PERFORMANCE & REHEARSAL DATES AT THE ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE Wednesday 14th June Drop Off - 8.15am. Sound Check & Tech rehearsal - 9am to 3pm Dress Rehearsal CAST A - 3.30pm to 6pm. Pick up - 6.00pm Thursday, 15th June - Dress Rehearsal CAST B Drop off 3.00pm - Pick up 6.00pm Friday, 16th June - PERFORMANCE (Students must move into their seating approx. 15-20 min prior to show start). NOTE: Please collect students between shows as the choir has 500 students and there is no space to host such large numbers between shows. Please bring your music, pencil and a highlighter. Please wear comfortable casual clothes and enclosed shoes. Please bring a jumper as it gets very cold at the venue. Uniform for Show Week - Please wear the white Star Struck T shirt and black pants and shoes, bring a jumper, your props bag, drink, food, money to purchase food if you would like to. Please bring water bottle, snacks and money for lunch and/or dinner.

Student rehearsals and performances for Star Struck Ignite 2023. ** Higher Ground dance Rehearsal Time: 8:45am- 3:00pm Location: Newcastle Basketball Stadium/Courts ONLY CAST A ** First combined rehearsal Date: Wednesday 24 May Time: 7:30am - 5:00pm (set time to be advised) Location: Newcastle Entertainment Centre ** Technical and Dress Rehearsals Date: Wednesday 14 June (Cast A) Time: 7:30am - 6pm Location: Newcastle Entertainment Centre Who must attend: Entire cast must attend. This includes - All school dance and drama groups. All featured dance ensembles. ** Shows and performances (CAST A) Friday 16th June: 10:30am -1:30pm Saturday 17th June: 6:30pm-9:30pm Location: Newcastle Entertainment Centre. Students are expected to make their own way to and from the venue. Please wear appropriate dance active wear. Tights or bike pants/ Star Struck T shirt. Costumes will be given at venue during performance. Please bring recess and lunch. Snacks and money for lunch and/or dinner. Please bring water bottle.

The class will catch a range of public transport, including bus, train, light rail and ferry to Stockton. Students will practice using Opal Cards and identifying the correct bus/train etc. Students will complete activities relating to a number of subjects such as English, Mathematics, Work and the Community, Geography, Modern History and Science. Students should wear full school uniform including covered shoes and should bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen and wet weather gear. Students will need to bring snacks/food for recess and lunch.

Year 9 Marine Studies students will be walking to Warners Bay Jetty to participate in the catch and release of marine species. Students should wear full school uniform, including covered shoes, and bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen and insect repellant. Students may bring their own fishing equipment.
