2024 Annual School Athletic Carnival

Fearnley Dawes Athletic Track, Newcastle West

Students will catch the bus to and from the Blue Track - Fearnley Dawes Athletics Track in Newcastle. Buses will transport students from school to the venue and will return students back to school at the end of the day. Students will need to arrive at school for 9am as buses will be leaving at 9.10am. Buses will return students at the conclusion of the day in time to catch their regular school buses home. Students are to wear full sport uniform and are encouraged to wear appropriate clothing to represent their house colours. Houses are: A-E Gelfius (Red); F-K Phillips (Blue); L-P Speers (Yellow); and R-Z Warners (Green). Venue Canteen Facilities are available on the day. The canteen will have cash or eftpos facilities. Please note any student who wishes to participate in the 1500m event and Triple Jump will need to make their own way to the venue and arrive for a 9am start. Invoicing information: Student accounts will show 2 separate invoices, one invoice is for bus fare and the other is for entry into the athletics field. Please Note: If students make their own way to the field but require the bus for their return to school, they are required to pay the return bus fare to allow the school to confirm student numbers requiring transportation.

Year 11 Biology excursion to Awabakal Education Centre.

Year 11 Biology students will be attending the Awabakal Education Centre. Students will be required to complete field work to gather data for Assessment Task One. Students will be travelling by bus. Students should wear full school sports uniform and bring pens, work booklet and a clip board. Please note: Students should bring snacks, food and drink for the day as there will be no facilities to purchase food.

Entertainment Induction

The Yr 11 VET Entertainment students will be completing their induction at Civic Theatre Newcastle, to allow them to do work placement there. Students will be travelling by public transport to and from the venue. Students are to meet at Cardiff Railway station at 9am and catch the train to Newcastle interchange then the light rail to Civic Theatre. Return: Light rail to Newcastle Interchange, train to Cardiff station and catch the bus to WBHS. Students must bring their own Opal Card preloaded with $15. Students should wear full school uniform including covered shoes. students are advised to bring food for the day - there may be an opportunity to buy lunch however if the induction runs long we will not have time.

Y10 Peer Support Leaders for Year 7 Camp

Great Aussie Bush Camp, Tea Gardens

Year 7 are attending an overnight excursion to the Great Aussie Bush Camp. The purpose of the camp is for students to experience a sense of belonging, develop social and emotional skills, and facilitate positive and respectful relationships with their peers and teachers. This will occur through a series of wellbeing programs and fun physical activities over the two days. We would like to invite 60 x Year 10 Peer Support Leaders to attend the camp and support our Year 7 students. Students will be travelling by bus and will depart the school at 9.15am on 27th March and arrive back at school at 2.45pm on 28th March Students should wear casual clothing and bring old clothes and shoes for mud activities. Food will be supplied by the venue. If your child would like to attend, please give online consent and pay a $50 deposit by Monday 26th February. Full payment is due by Wednesday 13th March 2024. First 60 students to give consent & pay their deposit will be able to attend. Please have a conversation with your child to confirm they would like to attend before giving consent.
