Dear WBHS families,

I say it often and always very proudly: I am continually so impressed and inspired by our outstanding students, brilliant staff and supportive school community. Quality teaching and learning was clearly evident again this term across classrooms, the playground and extra-curricular activities. Our school's outstanding achievements are regularly posted on the school's Facebook page and website gallery. WBHS is such a great school.

Final Week For Year 12

This week we celebrated the final week for our much-loved Year 12 students, with an enjoyable Fun Day, a brilliant Graduation Ceremony and a wonderful Formal. We wish every Year 12 student all the very best with their upcoming written exams. Ms Lawler has emailed Year 12 students and their families with details of HSC tutorials being held in the holidays. My thanks to all teachers involved.

HSC Major Projects Success

Term 3 is always a particularly busy term for those HSC students who submit a major work as part of their HSC courses (Music, Drama, Industrial Technology, Textiles. Technology, Society and Culture, Visual Arts and Extension 2 English). We are so proud of every student for their creativity, dedication and hard work, and their wonderful finished projects. Well done also to their very talented and dedicated teachers. We have started to receive NESA advice about nominations for the various premier showcases which present a selection of outstanding HSC major works. Congratulations to the following students and their teachers:

  • Encore - Music: James H, Hugh P and Logan R. Teacher: Mr Forbes.
  • On Stage - Drama: Chloe B. Teacher: Ms Monk.
  • SHAPE - Industrial Technology: Toby C, Ryan H, Samuel H, Harrison S and Joshua S. Teachers: Mr Mackay, Mr Moore.
  • SHAPE - Textiles Technology: Erika E, Paige M. Teacher: Ms Kennedy.

Farewell Mrs Farrugia

We are sad to say farewell to Ms Ashliegh Farrugia who successfully applied for the Head Teacher English position at Erina High School, starting next term. Ms Farrugia has been an outstanding teacher and colleague for many years at WBHS. She often relieved as Head Teacher English with great aplomb and also led the SRC with great success. We will miss her and we wish her all the best in her new role. We look forward to welcoming Ms Renee Berger to the English Faculty at the start of Term 4.

Canteen News

I would like to warmly welcome Ms Rachel Pead to the roll of canteen manger. Ms Pead will commence at the start of Term 4.

Positive Learning Environments

Positive Learning Environments is the term used at WBHS for our student behaviour management policy and procedures. These have been reviewed over the past two terms resulting in a streamlining of commendation types and tallies, the addition of a new award (the WBHS Medal for receiving a gold/platinum award in each year of attendance), and a strengthening of uniform compliance procedures. Please note that students who are placed on Level 2 DP monitoring may not be allowed to represent the school or attend excursion/incursions. Please contact the school if you have any questions.

Appropriate Use Of Student Email Addresses

Please see following what was posted to the Sentral Daily Notices over the past few weeks: The DoE is making an important change to help keep students safe online, reduce the risk of cyber threats and make sure your student email accounts are used for their intended educational purposes only. Starting Day 1 Term 4, you won't be able to use your student email address to sign up for, or recover access to any social media, gaming, instant messaging or similar accounts. If you have signed up for a social media, gaming, instant messaging or similar account using your student email address, please change to a personal email address on each platform by Sunday 13 October to make sure you don't lose access to the account.

School Carparks

Please do not drop off or pick up your child in any of the school car parks unless by prior arrangement with the office. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Term 4 Resumes

Term 4 resumes on October 14 for all students.

I hope you are able to enjoy the holiday break. See you next term.

Kind regards,

Marcus Neale
