A big congratulations to the Warners Bay High students who did our school and region proud at the Hunter Athletics Carnival!

This crew of athletes experienced plenty of success; breaking personal bests, with many qualifying to represent the Hunter at the upcoming NSW State Carnival.

A special mention also to those spectators who were able to attend to support our students on the day.

All the best to our qualifiers on their quest for further success at State!

Congratulations Molly, what an awesome achievement!

Lawn Bowls

Recently, 'Let's Play Bowls' held four qualifying events across the Hunter Region.

One team, captained by Ami B, and consisting of Mia B and Ava B qualified No 1 overall! The girls won all three matches 27-0, 5-4 and 14-0. They will participate in the 'Let's Play Bowls' Regional Final in Term 4, where the competitors will be battling it out for a cheque for $1000 for their schools.

Our second side, captained by Ned H and consisting of Alby G and Jake L finished equal first in their pool, missing out on the final on a count back. The boys started slowly, losing their first match 8-0, but they came home to win their last two matches 7-2 and 3-2. Congratulations to all students for representing WBHS proudly.

On Friday 9 August, the Year 7 boys and girls 5-a-side football teams played in the HSSA 5-a-side tournament at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility.

Both teams played with incredible skill and determination, and made the grand final by winning every game.

The girls were very unlucky to lose their grand final in a penalty shootout against Newcastle High School.

The boys were dominant in their grand final win defeating West Wallsend High School 3-0.

The students were excellent representatives of WBHS on and off the courts. The future looks bright for the school's football and futsal teams.

U16s Col Whitney Cup

The WBHS Col Whitney Cup team played their first two games in this very competitive Under 16 football competition.

The first game against West Wallsend High School was very close, and unfortunately the boys conceded a goal in the last minute to draw 2-2. The second game wasn't so close with the boys coming away with a 13-1 win against Morisset High School.

Mr McGarvey commends the boys for demonstrating exceptional team spirit, and a commitment to fair play, throughout the day.

Congratulations to our U14’s Boys rugby league team.

The boys made top 8 in the State after travelling north at the back end of last term to beat Camden Haven High to the tune of 28-22.

Then after stringing their best performance of the season together last week, they defeated Ashcroft High, 26-10.

After back to back wins in this elimination tournament, Warners Bay were set to face the winner out of Western NSW & Sydney West. Riverstone recently defeated Narromine, which decided our opposition for the quarterfinal.

Boccia State Finals

Joel C, Liam R and Cooper T competed in the NSW School Support Unit Secondary Boccia State Final on Wednesday 14th August in Sydney at the Quay Centre, Olympic Park. These students were proudly supported by school staff, parents and family members.

Due to some accurate bowling and great use of strategy the students were able to convincingly win 4 out of 5 round games and finished first in their pool. They then advanced to both the semi final and minor final. Unfortunately they were defeated by Fairdale High School in the play off for a bronze medal.

Throughout the tournament Joel, Liam and Cooper were outstanding and were awarded 4th in the state. This was such an amazing effort as 250 high schools were involved in both the Newcastle and Sydney tournament.
