Principal's Message

Term 1 has come and gone with much to celebrate around our students' progress and achievements. Many good news stories from Term 1 have been posted on our website or Facebook throughout the term. Thank you for your ongoing support and partnering together with the school to maximise students' learning and wellbeing outcomes. This is one of the reasons that helps make WBHS such a great school.

Staff Update

It is with mixed feelings that I let you know that Ms Amy Smith, Student Support Officer, will be taking up a similar role at Toronto HS from Term 2. We are happy for Toronto HS but sad for us! Ms Smith has made such a positive difference to many WBHS students and families during her nearly 6 years here. She has been such a valuable part of the Wellbeing team and contributed deeply across many aspects of school life. We sincerely wish her all the very best.

Strategic Improvement Plan

The 2024-2027 Strategic Improvement Plan (SIP) is now available on the school's website here. The new plan is considerably more streamlined than past plans (as is the case with all new NSW public school plans). Our school's ongoing commitment to explicit teaching as a key initiative aligns well with the Department's recent announcement of a statewide focus on explicit teaching. In addition to SIP initiatives, our school also has other whole-school initiatives and cross-faculty teams that focus on student wellbeing, positive learning environments, future focused pedagogy, teaching and learning, and staff professional practice.

2023 Annual Report

The 2023 Annual Report is now available on the school's website here.

Uniform

As we head into the cooler months, a reminder that hoodies and tights are not part of the school's uniform. See here for the school's uniform policy

Ways We Communicate

Our school has always enjoyed and appreciated positive communications with families. We know that you play a crucial role in helping your child become a motivated learner. Communication between our school and our community is critical for us to partner together. The Department of Education has recently set clear expectations for when and how staff respond to communication from parents and carers. This means teachers may not reply to non-emergency messages or emails outside of school operating hours. Staff will respond to queries within two school days under normal circumstances. Please see here for information about ways we communicate at WBHS. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.

I look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 2!

Kind regards,

Marcus Neale
