Year 11 Visual Arts excursion to Art Express and Kandinsky Exhibition

On the 7^th of March, Year 11 Visual Arts went on an Excursion to 'Kandinsky: The Abstract Pioneer' and "Art Express" exhibitions, which aimed to enrich students' understanding of art history, Critical and Historical studies, and inspire their own creative development for the Places and Spaces Body of Work.

Beginning with the exploration of Vassily Kandinsky's groundbreaking abstract art, students witnessed his innovative use of colour, form, and synesthesia, fostering an understanding of abstract expressionism and its cultural context.

Subsequently, when viewing "Art Express", students engaged with a diverse array of contemporary artworks by HSC Visual Arts students,  drawing inspiration for their own artworks. Through guided discussions, the excursion facilitated a holistic learning experience, encouraging students to critically reflect on artistic techniques, conceptual themes, and personal expression.
