On Monday the 8th April WBHS took 31 Year 10 students to Newcastle University to participate in the Science and Engineering Challenge. This is a nationwide STEM outreach program presented by the University of Newcastle in partnership with communities, Rotary clubs, universities and sponsors.
Eight high schools competed during a day packed full of hands-on activities where students made bridges, fish traps, model planes, wind turbines, and earthquake proof structures to name just a few.
Although we did not win (placed 6th), everyone enjoyed the day and came away with many new STEM based skills.
