Warners Bay High School recently welcomed our sister school Suginami Gakuin High School staff and students. Our Japanese visitors from Tokyo were given a busy schedule of activities organised with their host students.
Over several days our visitors and their hosts went to Port Stephens and visited Oakvale Farm, did a dolphin cruise, visited the Irukanji Shark and Ray Centre, walked Mt Tomaree and did the coastal walk. They visited Newcastle foreshore and Nobbys Beach, and had a fun afternoon at Laser Tag. Students also attended classes to get a taste of Australian school life.
One of the highlights of the trip was a day spent with some of our Aboriginal students learning to weave, paint and learn about the dream time stories.
Then, on Thursday morning, the Language Faculty and the host students/families of WBHS farewelled our sister school students and staff from Suginami Gakuin High School in Tokyo, Japan. It was an amazing 10 days of cultural exchange and new experiences. We all miss our new friends and will continue to stay in contact.
