The Open Girls Cricket team won a thrilling game against Hills Sports High recently.
We won the toss and elected to bat. Sophie C and Molly D combined for a great opening partnership. Sophie again batted for the duration of the innings top scoring with 52 against some very impressive bowling.
Warners Bay displayed a wonderful fielding performance with great bowling, catches and run outs from our experienced players as well as our new junior team members. The girls kept the pressure on Hills Sports and showed determination and focus.
The game came down to the last overs with the Hills Sports final batting pair needing 4 runs to win. Warners Bay remained calm under pressure and the final wicket was taken with a catch by Molly D from the bowling of Alex C, resulting in a well deserved victory.
This places Warners Bay High in the top 4 teams in the NSW Marie Cornish Trophy competition.
Thank you to Isaac P and Alby G for your help umpiring and scoring. Thank you to Mrs Dare for your ongoing help and all the parents for your support. Special mention to Saskia L, Clio L and Tahlia F who provided great positivity and encouragement to the team.
The finals will be played on April 1st and 2nd in Bathurst. Congratulations and good luck to the team.
