Year 7 African Beat Drum

We are excited to welcome the dynamic African performance group SALAKA for an engaging and interactive drumming incursion for Year 7 students.

This high-energy session will introduce students to the vibrant rhythms and cultural traditions of West African drumming in an unforgettable hands-on experience.

Students will have the opportunity to listen, learn, and perform alongside SALAKA, gaining an appreciation for the role of rhythm, beat, and percussion in African music.

This incursion provides a fantastic introduction to world music and rhythm-based performance, fostering teamwork, coordination, and musical confidence. We look forward to an exciting and enriching experience for all students!.

Important Information for Students:

• Students must attend roll call as usual before proceeding to the MPC.
• They must line up promptly in their Period One classes to ensure a smooth start to the session.
• Participation is encouraged, and students will get the chance to play authentic African drums
