World Autism Awareness Day - 2nd April 2020

Autism is a lifelong developmental condition, which affects how people communicate and relate to the world around them. This can affect how they talk to others and deal with sights, sounds and changes in their environment.

World Autism Awareness Week is observed every year to raise awareness about autism and how it affects people.  It is also a time to celebrate the fact that we are all different. We all have different talents, skills and difficulties, which make us unique.  It is important to always remember that it is OK to be different.

People with autism often see, hear, feel and experience the world differently to other people. This can make the world an overwhelming and sometimes uneasy place for those with the difficulty.

How is Autism Awareness Day celebrated?

Usually, there would be events held through Australia.  However, due to the current issues surrounding COVID-19, these events have been postponed.

You can show your support by wearing the colour blue, and encouraging others to wear blue as well.
