On Thursday, 27th February, Year 11 Visual Arts and Photography, Video and Digital Imaging students embarked on an inspiring excursion to the Art Gallery of NSW and the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney to engage with dynamic exhibitions that will inform their upcoming Body of Work for Places and Spaces and case study development.
Students explored ARTEXPRESS, gaining insight into exemplary HSC artworks that demonstrated diverse conceptual and material approaches. They experienced the thought-provoking works of Cao Fei, a contemporary Chinese artist known for her exploration of virtual realities, urban transformation, and social change. They also immersed themselves in the large-scale, layered compositions of Julie Mehretu, at the Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney, whose abstract works map political and cultural landscapes.
This excursion provided a valuable opportunity for students to investigate how artists interpret environments, identity, and transformation—ideas that will inspire their own creative practice.
