Warners Bay High U13’s girls Rugby League team ventured to Raymond Terrace during November to compete in the Kacey Drummond Shield.
The girls prepared well for the tournament, and such preparation held them in good stead, as they moved through their pool with an unbeaten record. WBHS moved onto the finals stage, taking on Rutherford High School in a hard-fought battle, to earn themselves a place in the Cup final.
As expected, the final proved the toughest battle of the day, with both teams going try for try, seeing scores deadlocked at 12 all by the final siren. The girls continued to scramble, shutting down attacking threats from Tomaree High, while moving the ball around to find holes in their defensive line. What appeared to be the match winning try was disallowed by the referee.
Despite the final result, WBHS, as always showed great sportsmanship and character.
