BandLink Newcastle 2025

Date: 01 - 02 July 2025
Time: 9:00 AM-3:00 PM
Location: Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College

Students who are part of the WBHS Band Program in Years 7-9 will travel to Bishop Tyrell Anglican College to participate in Band - Link workshops where they will develop music and ensemble skills working with students from other schools with direction from professional musicians and conductors. Students are expected to make their own way to and from the venue. Students will need to be dropped at 9am, and picked up from the venue at 3pm on both days. Please ensure you arrange your students to be dropped off and collected from the 'Kiss and Ride' on Karn St, off Awabakal Drive, Fletcher. Concert: Wednesday 2 July - 2:15 pm (Parents to meet at the car park gate to be taken to the concert venue) Students are to bring their own Instrument. Students must provide their own pencil. Music stands will be provided in 2025 so no student needs to bring a music stand. Percussion and drums – if you have percussion instruments or drums, can you please bring your own drum sticks and hand percussion, if possible. Drum kits will be provided at the venue in 2025. Electric Keyboards/Bass Guitar - if you are coming with Keyboard Bass or Bass Guitar, please bring your own keyboard, bass guitar, keyboard/amp or bass amp as required as these will NOT being supplied. Please bring extension leads and power boards and guitar / keyboard leads. Please bring keyboard stands. Please ensure that all your equipment is clearly labelled. Students should wear full school uniform including covered shoes. Wear WARM clothes as it could be quite cool while sitting and playing in the band situation. No facilities to purchase food will be available. Students should bring snacks and food for recess and lunch. Please bring water bottle. There will be no eating in the ensemble spaces at any time. All water MUST be in a bottle (no cups please). Please note there will be no teacher from Warners Bay High School attending this excursion.

Cancelled - NAIDOC Celebration at Valentine PS

Location: Valentine Public School

This event has been cancelled due to anticipated weather event. A group of WBHS students will be visiting Valentine Public School to perform Aboriginal dance as part of their NAIDOC Week celebrations. This excursion provides students with a special opportunity to showcase and honour Aboriginal culture through performance, while also acting as cultural leaders and role models for younger students. Students are expected to make their own way to and from the venue. Students should wear aboriginal dance costume.

Year 12 University of Newcastle - Schools Visit Day

Date: 03 July
Time: 9:00 AM-2:40 PM
Location: University of Newcastle

Year 12 students are invited to visit the University of Newcastle Callaghan campus for the Schools Visit Day which provides students with an opportunity to get a taste for uni life. Academics and current students run presentations and campus tours throughout the day to give students information on degrees, see the facilities and engage with current students and staff. Students are encouraged to plan their day online through the following website: www.newcastle.edu.au/schools-visit-day Students are expected to make their own way to and from the venue. Students should wear full school uniform including covered shoes. Students should bring snacks, food and drink for the day, however, students will be able to make purchases at the university's canteen. * Please note: Teachers attending this excursion will not always have direct supervision of all students given the structure of this event. In the unlikely case of an emergency, students can contact the school on 4954 9488 or Renee Sommer on 0431 850 812. Students will be required to provide a mobile phone number so they can be contacted on the day if necessary. **Further details and instructions regarding this excursion will be emailed to students on 1st July 2025.

Bay Day for Year 7 and Year 8 students

Bay Day. This is a rewards incursion for students who received no negative referral during Term 2. As part of this year's revised commendation system, your son/daughter has been invited to attend a movie reward event for students who received zero negative Sentral entries this term. The movie to be shown is Wild Robot which is rated PG. The movie will be shown in periods 1 and 2. Students will attend all other timetabled classes. Students are allowed to bring their own snacks (eg lollies, popcorn) to watch during the movie.
