Congratulations to the Open Girls Cricket Team who were successful in their semi-final match against Maitland.
Warners Bay won the toss and elected to field. The team was led with confidence by Sophie Clune and Molly Dare. The girls displayed some precision bowling including Isabella Bliss 4 for 3, Imy Jones 3 for 4 and Molly Dare 3 for 9. Well done to all the girls who bowled, some for the first time. Khaliah Rodgers was outstanding as wicket keeper in her first game and was involved in the crucial run out of the Maitland captain. Maitland set a total of 110.
Sophie and Isabella opened the batting and put on a 78 run partnership. The girls were in great form and played some beautiful shots. Sophie top scored with 41 runs not out and Isabella scored 37 runs. Molly Dare came to the crease in the 13th over and finished with 6 not out. We overtook Maitland’s score in the 18th over to finish 1 for 111.
I would like to thank Mrs Dare who helped score and the parents who attended to support the team. Thank you to all the players for your positive attitude, sportsmanship and exemplary behaviour.
We are waiting to hear who we play in the next game as that will determine the Hunter Area Champion. Best of luck to the team.
