Congratulations to the Open Girls Cricket Team – 2019 Hunter Champions

The Open Girls Cricket Team had a convincing win over Maitland High in the preliminary final to progress to the Hunter final against Whitebridge High yesterday.

Warners Bay won the toss and elected to bat. Sophie scored 48 not out and was well supported by the team. Our innings total, including sundries was 114.

A strong bowling performance and some great fielding restricted Whitebridge to 93. Mia took 2 for 11, Lucy 1 for 11, Laura 1 for 18. Sophie, Zali, and Georgia also bowled very well.

I’d like to congratulate all the players on an outstanding performance and thank them for their exemplary behaviour and sportsmanship. Thank you to the parents and family members for your support and help with transport. A special thanks to Nicole for scoring and Daniel for taking photos.

The team will play a knockout in Bathurst for State championships in Term 1 2020.
