Open Girls Netball

Netball Report 2013 - Open Girls CHS Team

Our open girls team have proven successful in 2013. WBHS placed 1st in the Eastlakes Zone and 1st in the Hunter Region. We had to play 9 games in order to finish top of the table in our district. WBHS defeated Swansea, Belmont, Whitebridge, Lake Munmorah, Hunter Sports, Mt View, Great Lakes, Callaghan College and Merewether High schools convincingly. Such success confirmed a place in the top 16 state wide tournament.

The CHS state carnival for the open team was held at Menai Indoor Sports Centre on the 3rd and 4th of September. Schools competing were from the top teams in each region in NSW, including selective sports high schools. The girls had to play 7 games on the first day of competition and 3 on the second. The games were extremly competitive and the standard of netball was impressive. WBHS won 6 games, drew 1 and lost 3 to be placed 9th in the state. A huge effort was made by all players on both days and the girls should be congratulated on their efforts.

The open's team members were: Brittney Talarico, Abbie Johnson, Jenna Bath, Jordyn O'Neill, Milkaela Ryan of Year 12. Ellie McVey, Maddie Taylor, Sabina Gomboso of Year 11 and Kim Trayhurn of Year 10.

A huge thank you to Shannon Threlfall of Year 11 for umpiring at the open's team state carnival and all the parents for their involvement and assistance this year.
