Peer Support

Peer Support utilises the potential of students to befriend and support younger students in schools. Within the school it fosters communication and friendship between older and younger students of the same age, and between staff and students.

Our peer support program provides structure within the school for the Year 10 students to assist small groups of Year 7 students. A group of Year 9 who will be in Year 10 in 2019 will undergo training days on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 November 2019. The leaders for 2020 will be selected.

These groups will meet on a regular basis, on lesson each week for three weeks. Each group will work through a program of activities which involve communication, self-esteem, trust, assertiveness, sharing, decision making self and others.

We believe we have found the peer support program to be a benefit to all who participate and request your permission for your son/daughter/ward to participate.

Training will be at Warners Bay High School. The students will participate in the training day workshop which will be scheduled throughout the day. Students will be provided recess and lunch but will need their own drinks and pen.

On Friday 6 December, students will be involved in a Year 7 Orientation Day.

Students are to wear sports uniform.

There is no cost involved in the training over two days. Permission slips need to be completed and returned to Mrs Monk by Monday 11 November 2019.
